Papaya soup

This is my first post attempt to write out how to cook papaya soup. Yet, I’m still learning so my mom is the one preparing and cooking, I just stand beside taking notes and pictures to fill up this post. Nevertheless, I will cook on my own by following these notes I created below.

Let’s cook!

Ingredients;

  • Papaya (half ripe *70% ripe / can be eat by tomorrow*, size of my palm)
  • Peanuts *size average type* (70-80g / size scope from palm)
  • Dry scallops / kung yiu chi(2pcs)
  • Dry longan (70-80g / size scope from palm)
  • Pork bones / pai guat (1 stick)

Preparations;

soak peanuts 1 hour before others, wash and rinse it before put in pot
boil pork bone till boiling
u will see the white white things floating on surface, this is process is called fei sui. to clean up the pork dirt and smells.
after it, simply wash and rub away meat surrounding dirt.
after fei sui process, the meat is clean and good to go
wash dry scallop
wash longan
put dry scallop inside pot and fill up filter water to 80%
put peanuts in pot
put up slow fire

I forgot to snap pictures on this few steps below;

after put in peanuts, put in longan and the pork bones.

peel off papaya skin
fully skinned
cut half n half into 4pcs
remove all seeds
cut into small small
lastly put in papaya
fire up to max till it’s ready. approximately 3 hours depending on the ingredients.
Ok, my soup is cooked. Let’s drink!

The taste for this is quite mild but still taste very yummy! Pork bone is tender, papaya have mild sweet (i prefer sweeter type, it depends on the papaya sweetness), so if u guys prefer sweeter or mild, u will have to look for different papaya. Peanut is soft and size is average, I do prefer bigger peanut.

papaya looks like this, 70% ripe. you may buy 60% ripe if not cooking on the same say. take note, if papaya too ripe, it will produce bad flavor.

Oh, please take note. This soup can be add in carrots 🥕 and corn 🌽 to enhance the flavor by your desire. NO salt and NO seasoning please, it will spoiled the original flavor.

I added locator information below for future ingredient hunting references;
